With the new year having started we are looking forward to the new season’s interior trends. As the days will slowly get longer and brighter we are introducing Spring to our homes. In this article, we have put together some of the key tendencies that will play a role in Spring/Summer 2020.
Introducing Terra Cotta
Terra Cotta is a clay-based ceramic where the fired piece is porous. Mostly used as plant pots this season’s terra cotta comes in various designs such as candle holders, bowls or plates and in its rawest, unglazed version. Not only the material but also its earthy burnt orange colour is going to be a huge trend this year. Preferably, its is used around the house, on walls, curtains or rugs in a variety of different shades to create a rich, monochrome look.
More Nature, less Perfection
Over the past years interiors have been heavily inspired by nature. Materials such as jute, wool, wood and leather are still playing a huge role in 2020. This year homewares strive for an even more natural look. Accessories have a handmade design inspired by craftsmanship from all over the world. Think of jute baskets, roughly woven textiles and textured, hand-shaped ceramics. The focus is on the imperfections!
Shades of Jade
Besides Terra Cotta, another big colour trend for 2020 is: Jade. Shades vary from light dusky greens towards rich jewel tones. We will see a lot of green glassware, translucent vases and jugs, which suit this eye-catching colour perfectly. Jade is a great shade for people who like neutral tones but still want to introduce some colour to their home. Style Jade accessories in a group or mix them with earth-coloured objects.
