When we think about Wales, it’s the breath-taking coastline that first comes to our mind: dramatic cliffs, fine sand, wild waves. Staying in the land-enclosed Brecon-Beacons during a UK heatwave we were eager to find an alternative swimming spot to the great Atlantic. Luckily, our hosts Hayley and Leo had a great tip on where to take a dip.
Equipped with a hand-drawn map, we packed a picnic and made our way across a meadow down to the riverbank not knowing that a true adventure was waiting for us. Loaded with a basket full of snacks and refreshments we had to cross the stream to get to that lush bit of grass on the other side to set up our lunch spot. Wading through roaring, knee-high water was more difficult than it looked but apart from one lost flip-flop, we did make it in one piece. Very relieved that we’ve arrived safely on the other side we set up a lunch spot of dreams by the river. Unpacking our produce that we bought from the local shops in Abergavenny we refuelled our energy levels and basked in the sunshine.
With the perfect backdrop to showcase some of our favourite summer products, we laid out our picnic spot. The checked cotton throw transformed into the ideal blanket. Adding a touch of depth and contrast, we layered the scene with gingham mini tablecloths, creating a picturesque setup. Our trusty picnic basket held an array of essentials for the perfect river-side experience. Nestled inside were the indispensable green recycled beldi glasses, effortlessly elevating the enjoyment of our refreshing cloudy kombucha.
To infuse the air, we lit the Earl of East Atlas Cedar candle. Its unique blend of cedar wood, olive leaf, and white musk intertwined, creating an ambiance that left us at peace with nature. Nourishing our appetites, we savoured snacks, thoughtfully packed in The Organic Company lunch bag. This functional companion provided ample space for our treats and once emptied, conveniently rolled down, making it perfect for our leisurely riverside adventure.
Overall, our afternoon by the river was nothing short of magical, surrounded by the beauty of nature and complemented by our summer product picks. Each product and element contributed to the experience.
